I'm happy to report that the Best Friend Book Club is still going strong. There have been several books that took me and Bob longer to read than anticipated but we are still adding books to the list and ticking them off as we go.
For this spooky season we opted for Rosemary's Baby - this was not only a re-read for me but it's one of my favorite movies. Thankfully Bob agreed that this was a good read. It is all the things you would want creepy, eerie and suspenseful. The characters are extremely well developed and so interesting. Bob and I had no trouble agreeing that Guy Woodhouse - Rosemary's rotten husband - is the LVP of this book and we were torn on the MVP. I originally said Rosemary but after our usual after book discussions the possibility of Roman being the MVP started to make sense as well.
Now, I have seen this movie many, many times but rewatched right after reading the book and I have got to say this is one of the absolute best adaptations of a book to movie I've seen. The casting is perfect and Roman Polanski's level of detail made you feel like you jumped right into the book. I have read and watched many book/movie pairings and there are some where the movie can't possibly compare to the book, there are some where I truly prefer the movie, but this one... it is impossible to choose because they are so close to each other and both so well written and brought to life that I like them both equally! Both are masterpieces in their own right! Have you seen or read Rosemary's Baby? What are you thoughts?
We have more books and movies on tap as we head into the next several months but as always if you have any suggestions just leave them in the comments below and we will add them to the list!
