The Great Pumpkin Adventure

We created an entire theme day around our viewing of It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. What a blast we had and how grateful I am that Tamy indulged me in so much pumpkin goodness!

We started the day with friends at Southern Hill Farms where we picked out pumpkins, took photos in the sunflowers, and at yummy cider donuts. The perfect infusion of Fall, even though here in Florida it's still a bit warm. I definitely recommend Southern Hill Farms if you live in the Central Florida area, it really is a beautiful place.

Brody investigated the pumpkins we brought home and with the help of Snoopy let us know it was time for the main event. So after a little photo shoot where Brody got more treats than he should have I made dinner and we settled in.

Those of you who have known me for a while know that in the Fall months I go on my "All Pumpkin Diet" I eat a lot of pumpkin and pumpkin spiced foods for months. One of my go to dishes for the Fall months is Pasta with Pumpkin and Sausage by Rachael Ray. It's quick and easy and SO delicious. Tamy likes it cause it has the sausage to keep it from being to over the top pumpkin. This year I put it over a combination of the pumpkin pasta from Trader Joe's and Whole Foods so we had a whole pumpkin patch variety going on.

Pasta - check, wine in hand painted pumpkin glass - check, pumpkins stacked nearby - check. It was time to revisit It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. We always love watching this, feeling bad for poor Charlie Brown as he collects rocks, wondering if we should start writing letters to the Great Pumpkin like Linus and giggling uncontrollably when Lucy bobs for apples and comes up with Snoopy!

Of course no theme night would be complete without a special dessert right? I introduce you to The Great Pumpkin Empanada Sundae! The empanadas are from Trader Joe's, I baked according to the package directions and added a little cinnamon sugar as soon as it came out of the oven. We paired it with Publix snickerdoodle ice cream and Ghiradelli caramel syrup. This sundae was a big hit around here as we gobbled them up by the glow of our Halloween lights and pumpkin candle flickering. It was a great day full of pumpkin goodness!
